Are you an unconventional winter bride in search of unique wedding ideas? Look no further! Here are 3 original winter themed ideas for couples looking to stand out.
A Frozen-Inspired Affair
There’s something unmistakably magical about the elements that make up Winter weddings: white lights strung up all over town, stunning dresses, fresh blankets of snow, mistletoe, shimmering icicles.
And nothing says “dramatic glamour” quite like a Disney Princess in a gorgeous gown. The animated film Frozen is all about empowerment, self acceptance, courage, and love–ideals you want to bring to your partnership.
Whether you’re more of an Elsa or an Ana, the movie’s beautiful visuals put summer scenery to shame. If you have a substantial budget for decorations, consider using potted trees to evoke an enchanted winter landscape. This can be done with small pine trees or spindly, potted, decorative branches. Find them at local craft stores, grab a can of white spray paint, and go to tow. (Hint: many retailers have sales on holiday decorations after the New Year.)
If you’re really dedicated to the cinematic theme, Disney actually makes an “Elsa-inspired” wedding gown. Fashion your hair into a braided updo, add some crystals, and transform yourself into a snow queen! (Cold hands, warm heart right?)
“Will You Be Mine?” Wedding
Valentine’s Day weddings can be kitschy and cute! The more whimsical, the better. If you’re a light-hearted couple with a love of hearts, roses, and smiling cherub statues, this might be the wedding theme for you! Note: think high school dance all grown up!
This whole affair works best when taken to a tongue-in-cheek extreme. So don’t be afraid to get back to basics. Red and pink roses are fun and traditional. Decorate the tables with conversation hearts, hang paper mache decorations, and add a photo booth. Crank up the R&B and let everyone know the Love Doctor is in the house!
Black and White Winter Ball
Think the ultimate, classic ceremony. Recite your vows holding a bouquet of white roses, tied together with a silk black ribbon. Make sure your bridesmaids and groomsmen are dressed in black suits, tails optional for the groom(s), and decorate the programs with black and white photography of the two of you.
This theme pairs nicely with vintage pieces. If your budget allows, consider having your reception in a hotel and decking the place out in black and white accents. Think something from an Old Hollywood film. Go for high glamour, simple and clean lines, and jazzy music. The snowy season adds the perfect backdrop to your elegant wedding day.
