Weddings with out-of-the-box activities that reflect the couple’s personality are always top-tier and Kate & Jason’s was exactly that. The lovely couple had a gorgeous Palos Verdes, CA wedding that was equal parts breathtaking and nostalgic. From Kate’s stunning dress to Jason’s impeccable wedding planning skills, we can just tell these two had the time of their lives!

How did the two of you meet?
Jason: We met on a dating app, Kate first left me on read for three days! Kate had the most aggressive response to my initial message. I asked, “Hi screenname, what do you study at CSUN?” She responded back with “My name is not Kate’s screenname my name is Kate!” In the back of my head, I was like this girl has some attitude and sass… and I like it.
Tell us about the proposal.
Kate: Jason proposed to me back in 2019. I was out of the country for two weeks visiting my family in China. After I flew back to the US, he picked me up at the airport and he showed me the photo scrapbook that he made. I was so surprised because he is not the type of man that is good with crafty work. He not only printed out the photos but also put cute stickers around the photos. He told me to turn to the last page and on the last page of the photo scrapbook, he pointed me to look at the question “Will you marry me”. There was only one answer there, It was YES!
What inspired the color palette and decor choices for your wedding design?
Kate: I love classic white and pink. For the bridal bouquet and centerpieces, I picked ivory roses, white ranunculus, blush peonies, and white peonies. I picked dark greens & eucalyptus greens as accents. For the bridesmaid dresses, I did not want my bridesmaids to wear the traditional bridesmaids’ dress, I told my girls they can wear anything the shade of pink and any pattern. I trust their fashion choice.
How was the planning process?
Kate & Jason: We had an amazing wedding planner and her name is Cindy Wu (A touch of lavender). She is amazing to work with and she coordinated every single detail flawlessly. Jason was obviously a groomzilla and he was taking the lead on every single detail. I was only assigned to pick up my bridal outfit and that is it. A girl has to look good!
Tell us about some of your favorite moments of your wedding day.
Kate: My favorite wedding day moment is our first look. I know Jason really wants to know what my wedding dress looks like. He dropped me off at wedding dress shopping a couple of times and he always peeks inside the door to get a glance, but to no avail. We had an amazing time with our friends and family, can we do it again next month?
Jason: I loved the arcade that I managed to get in! Just kidding, I really enjoyed planning the wedding and getting the guest experience down. We had tons of food and options for all of our guests, we kept it super casual where it wasn’t so stressful, but instead more relaxed and carefree. 10/10 I would plan my own wedding.
