You know it’s extra special when it’s one of your own.
My sister and friend Desola is getting married to the love of her life. She is one of my most BELOVED humans in the world so we HAD to go all out for her shower, here in Lagos, Nigeria. She is THE quintessential Barbie girl and when it was time to plan her shower the theme was a no-brainer. True to her Barbie roots she is getting married to a KEN (Kenny) which is just a serendipitous gift that ended up being the entire theme of the shower.
We threw the shower at a gorgeous garden in a private waterfront residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. The decor and planning was done by Dreamland Events, an amazing and very hands-on events and decor company based in Lagos Nigeria, and Houston TX. We provided the moodboard and they ran with it. From the pink checkered dancefloor to the BEAUTIFUL mirrored tables and the cascading florals, the entire setup brought our bride to tears.
Desola is the Karaoke QUEEN and we had to honor her with all her favorite things. After the nibbles, games, and speeches we sang our hearts out to nostalgic anthems and afrobeat classics.
Our Groom Kenny came in at the end with pink flowers for his Barbie girl wearing the cutest custom shirt with ‘K + D’ printed all over. We love a thoughtful man!
There is nothing like seeing your friend marry the love of her life and I am so so glad we were able to usher her into her new chapter in a way that mirrors all that she is to us!
