2019 Bridal Fashion Trends ahead of NYBFW

Kunbi O / Thursday March 28, 2019

As we prepare for the unveiling of next season’s wedding gowns, we decided to look back and predict what could be coming up next. Thankfully, Harper’s Bazaar released their 2019 bridal fashion trends last month, and we are CELEBRATING thinking about all of the ways that we will see these trendy items in your big day affairs. From playful feathery plumes to colorful floral details, their take on this year’s bridal trends is what gorgeous wedding day dreams are made of. We have narrowed down their list of fourteen bridal trends of 2019 to our top five – in no particular order. Get ready to take some notes and shine, babes. This is going to be fun.

1.) Over-the-top regal design

Saiid Kobeisy | Christian Siriano | Morilee

First off on the list is over-the-top regal design. With an affinity for all of those gorgeous royal weddings of 2018, we may be experiencing some sort of residual effect. In short, no way can we let go of fairy tale dreams of becoming royalty and basking in luxury. Thankfully, wedding dress designers like Saiid Kobeisy have embraced that and are fulfilling our dreams right down the aisle with voluminous skirts and intricate detail work.

2.) Feathery plumes

Mihano Momosa| Pronovias | Rosa Clara

As if regal status is not enough, our next favorite trend from Harper’s Bazaar is feathery plumes. What began as Kandi Buruss’s ostrich feather covered train on a custom Reco Chapple wedding dress is now a 2019 wedding dress trend, and we are here for it. Fashion house, Mihano Momosa especially has this one (and the next, but more on that in a few) down to a science with feather-frocked everything, including skirted bridal jumpsuits and mini, high-low, and full-length wedding dresses. On one hand, all we can think about is the weight of the actual dress while on the other, how cool and how comforting it more than likely feels against your skin. It is the best of both worlds – and even more so if you can imagine wearing a gorgeously fitted down pillow that has the capacity to take flight at any moment.

3.) Minimalism

Another wedding dress fashion trend for 2019 is minimalism. While we all love those iconic, royal wedding gowns, there is something so astounding about the Duchess of Sussex’s elegantly simplistic Givenchy wedding dress that may make you think twice about going all out on your wedding day. And yet, the subtle twists and turns of a white minimalist wedding gown style can add intimacy within a large gathering and be the perfectly muted complement to showcase your “I do.”

4.) Something Blue

Vera Wang | Ines De Santo | White by Vera Wang

As if blush bridal gowns were not enough, Harpers Bazaar has noticed that designers like Ines di Santo have turned the tides on something blue and are showcasing it as the main event. Not that you will see a dozen in every collection or even, one on every bride. But, for the trendsetter’s début du mariage, expect something more than white.

5.) Floral, baby

JLM Couture | Naeem Khan | Lazaro

Finally, last on the list of our favorite bridal trends of 2019 is: THE FLORAL WEDDING DRESS. Like, it is not enough to carry flowers down the aisle, please surround me with them. Scrolling through Naeem Khan Signature Looks, you will find a melange of dainty floral appliqué, bold embroidery techniques, and Frida Kahlo-esque floral crowns and it is lovely. Bride to be or not, this trend is perfect for any budding romance.
