So for those of you who don’t know my Assistant Editor Segi got engaged back in October (yay!) What this means for us enthusiasts, is that we get to follow Segi through the wedding journey (well she’s a bit shy so I think we’ll only get a couple of peeks into her big day every now and then but we’ll take it).
The first stop on the #SegiGettingMarried journey was the engagement party. Segi and her fiance Olamide celebrated with thirty of their friends at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria. Enjoy!
From the Bride:
My inspiration for the day was to keep things intimate. We had x-shaped tables instead of rectangular or banquet style ones. with one large centerpiece in the middle. We also had our favorite pictures together spread around the tables which added to that intimate feel. Our color palette was purple and silver with black table cloths to tie it all in. Everything worked together to give that intimate evening vibe we were going for.
I think my favorite part of the party was the surprise congratulatory video my friend Tolu had prepared featuring our dearest friends. It was so sweet and completely made our day.
I am also most grateful to my friend and bridesmaid Bimbo who was my rockstar planner and kept things true to my vision.

The Newlywed/Shoe-lywed Game: Have the couple take off their shoes. The bride should take one of the groom’s shoes and the groom should take one of the bride’s shoes.They should then stand back-to-back facing different directions. Ask a couple of fun questions regarding “who does what” or “who is most likely to do what” in the relationship. If they both think the answer is the bride both of them should raise their foot of the bride’s shoe, and if it is the groom then the groom’s shoe goes up.
