Lilly Pulitzer for Target Banner

In case you haven’t noticed, Target has been collaborating with designers for over 15 years with their “Design for All” and “Go International” campaigns. From Missoni to TOMS, Target releases a collection every season specially created for its customers by working with high fashion designers, interior designers, and cosmetics gurus. This spring we get fashion and home designs from the queen of resort herself, Lilly Pulitzer.

Back in 1959, Lilly Pulitzer’s vision was to offer clothing for women that reflected the sunny, always-on-vacation vibe of her home, Palm Beach. Decades later, she is still best known for bold, colorful prints with tropical inspiration. Today’s design team at Lilly Pulitzer ensures her spirit lives on through her iconic style, and the brand’s collaboration with Target does just that.

This designer collaboration is one of Target’s largest yet, with over 250 pieces spanning women’s, plus-size, and kids apparel, plus housewares, shoes, accessories and even cosmetics! I can’t wait to add some bright summer touches to both my closet and my kitchen. While items in this collection range from just $2 up to $150, nearly 200 of these items are under $30. Hard to beat.

I’m still on pins and needles waiting to see the entire collection, but the Target x Lilly Pulitzer launch party held at the Four Seasons in New York City offered a fun sneak preview. Both Lilly’s signature use of color and print, plus an obvious mod ’60s inspiration were evident in carefully assembled displays. Even the models looked like they had just stepped out of Beach Party.

The best part of this collection is truly the textiles. Target’s design team went back through the Lilly Pulitzer archives to revive her best prints and utilize them in fresh designs. Most of the prints in this collection are actually vintage, which keeps the line true to Lilly’s brand.

I’m not sure what I’ll make a beeline for first- an embroidered shift dress, outdoor pillows for my patio, a pair of metallic sandals, or some colored glassware and printed plates. The housewares in this collection are some of my favorites to ever hit the department from a designer collaboration. Flatware with bamboo handles and shell-shaped serving platters are definitely on my summer entertaining must-have list.
