Hi friends, Newlywed Phyllis here! We had our spring engagement session in April and once again our wonderful photographer, Wale Ariztos, amazed us with his talent. As I mentioned in my previous blog, we planned to do this session in my neck of the woods and ended up on U Street in Washington, DC. This location was suggested by Wale and it was perfect! U Street is full of culture and color and on a beautiful spring day is was the “picture-perfect” backdrop to capture our love.
My outfit for this session incorporated some of my African culture. I had an Ankara skirt made with my favorite color (pink) and our wedding color (purple). I paired the skirt with a white lace shirt so I could feel all bridey LOL! As the budget/DIY bride that I am, I made matching earrings and a handkerchief for Calvin with leftover material from my skirt. Calvin went casual with a khaki blazer and purple shirt to coordinate our look. I loved everything! The flawless photography and the stunning scenery accentuated every detail.
The weather was beautiful and the street was busy. We felt like celebrities as people kept stopping to say congratulations. We even had a group of ladies with the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, who stopped and jumped into a picture. So much fun that day! It definitely added to the joy you see in the pictures. Wale even got Calvin to smile (for real)!!!
Unfortunately, Wale was not the photographer at our wedding, but he is now part of our family and we look forward to him capturing all of our blessings to come. Anyone who works with Wale Ariztos Photography will not be disappointed at all. I hope you enjoyed our pictures 🙂
