Chic Chateau Wedding in Burgundy, France with Seun & Toye

Hold on to your hearts folks, this chateau wedding is divine! After a chic and swoon-worthy Traditional Nigerian Wedding in Lagos, our bride and groom, Seun and Toye, headed to France for the finale of their marriage celebration. Hosted at the truly romantic Chateau de Vallery in the Burgundy region of France, the couple brought the wedding day magic as they said their final I dos as husband and wife.

Y’all! This French wedding was absolutely glorious. Like, the French countryside setting and reception decor was so luxe and gorgeous. We just cannot.  Every moment was so memorable! The off-the-shoulder jewel tone bridesmaid dresses with mermaid style cut matched the bride’s Alonuko wedding dress. Picture: gorgeous ruffle and layered skirts with sleek bodices. Oh, and Seun’s illusion back and sleeves were so divine! These girls slayed bridal and bridal party looks.

Wedding Theme Inspiration: Coco Rocha and James Conran’s Wedding Day

According to the bride:

“Coco Rocha and James Conran’s chateau wedding was a HUGE inspiration to me. When I saw what they did with their weekend- having their friends and family all in the stunning chateau, the love and intimacy of it all and just their love for God and how it emanated in their wedding video. I was like YES! Thats what i want. Funny enough I found their wedding video in 2016, sent it to my sister and just kept it. The venue was VERY important. It had to fit with our vision. I still remember the day we went to visit… as we drove in we could hear the amazing sound system blasting out At Last by Etta James. I burst into tears- this was it. It trully is the most beautiful chateau I have ever seen. The family who own it are lovely and we trully became good friends with them. They also played a huge role in making all of the arrangements and helping us find a planner. In terms of a theme, we just went with everything the chateau naturally had and then added our own personal touches. The chateau had a strong sense of history with the two parts, so we have letters sharing some of that with every guest who stayed there. We were blessed to be able to host our entire bridal party and closest friends and family in there for three days (a 60 person sleepover!!). The Welcome party -The Oriental Evening – was because the chateau had a Morroccan Ryad. We literally did not buy one prop! it was all already there”

Intimacy in Every Moment

What stood out the most was the intimacy throughout each moment of this gorgeous chateau wedding. Specifically, our bride and groom’s love shone through every aspect of the day. Likewise, the powerful prayers of the bridesmaids for their friend during the getting ready photos. Similarly, the 300 guest wedding reception felt like a private dinner party.

From the bride:

“The day was honestly the best day of my life in every way. I have never been more at peace. I woke up alone in my amazing room and was able to just take it all in before the day started.  I always knew I wanted an evening wedding and since the Chateau also had its own church, we were able to have breakfast and lunch before heading to the church. Praying with my parents in the morning was lovely, and then the prayer with my bridesmaids and my mum- wow that was a moment. I knew then and there that i had made the best decision to include these 16 women in my journey to marriage. Picking my bridesmaids was so easy. I literally just picked my best friends who had been there for me in the hardest time of my life. Every single one of them played a role in the wedding prep and on the day. Each had a task that they carried out beautifully. I love you guys!!”

The Wedding Reception Theme: Effortless, Yet Totally Elegant Style

The style of the entire wedding theme was effortless! According to the bride,

“One of my highlights of the day was our outdoor cocktail hour.  My planners tried hard to convince to move my cocktail hour indoors for fear of rain but I knew in my soul that it wouldn’t rain. I had to take a risk and it paid off. Seeing all of our guests on that lawn that day enjoying all of the carefully picked cocktails and food, was such a pleasure. This also brings me to a great point. Make sure you pick vendors with great energy. All of our vendors were absolutely peaceful and just amazing. There was no conflict. We were very intentional about picking people who had good energy and it really paid off. Don’t just go for the most expensive vendor, or a well known make up artist because thats what you’ve seen. Meet these people and vet them. I picked close friends and family for almost everything and I felt the love and care on the day.”

Memorable Ways to Add Fun & Magic to Your Wedding Day

Seun says:

“My most enjoyable highlights were the fireworks!! I remember whilst watching them telling my husband that this was the best best moment ever and I’ll always remember it. It was even better because it was a surprise organsied by our venue and our planner so I did not know what to expect! This went on for 15 mins and honestly everyone was mesmerised. Another amazing surprise was the arrival of Davido at the after party! I think the videos of the shock on my face have made their way round instragram. That was amazing and gave a boost to an already lit afterparty.”

Literally, every moment of this chic chateau wedding was perfêtion. The cocktail hour was so chic, y’all. The champagne fountain made our hearts sing. Likewise, the fireworks in the tiered wedding cake were spectacular. This entire event was totally was a celebration of friendship and family. You know, all of the things we completely appreciate. Congratulations, Seun and Toye. Your chateau wedding in Burgundy was epic!
