Inside Fisayo Longe’s Epic London Birthday Celebration

Feyi Bello / Sunday November 14, 2021

Do you know what we love to see here at Perfete?

Women celebrating themselves! Especially women whose stories we know and LOVE! There’s just something about it when you see a woman celebrating herself and her accomplishments in a room filled with love and happy tears.

Fisayo Longe is the founder/CEO of Kai Collective and she has had an incredible year, to say the least! Her fashion label, Kai Collective saw tremendous successes when she launched the Gaia print pieces – it grew by over 500%!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in the THICK of the pandemic, we might add!

From launching her blog Mirror Me back in the early 2010s and to securing a well deserved spot on the 2021 Forbes 30 under 30 Europe list and being featured in Beyonce’s directory of black-owned businesses her story is only beginning and she just keeps on going!

Kunbi,  sat with her on the Launch That Ish podcast, in case you missed it – Listen here!!

What do you do when you’ve literally had the year of your dreams? You celebrate and celebrate she did! To cap off the stellar year she’s had, she threw herself a Lil birthday party, and guess what the theme was?

HER DAMN SELF!

We talked to her about her day and she had this to say:

What made you want to celebrate this year?

Fisayo: I haven’t had a party since I was 11 years old. I’ve become such an introvert as I’ve gotten older. All I’ve wanted to do for my birthday is travel and just not be stressed in any way at all. I don’t really know exactly what happened, but I just spent the entire summer wanting a party. I think it was an after-effect of covid lockdowns. I have achieved so much in the past year and really craved the chance to celebrate my business, graduation, and birthday with the people I love. I wanted to be out!!

What’s the most memorable thing from that day

Fisayo: Two of my best friends surprised me- one from Lagos and one from Paris. I felt truly loved and there was a point at which I looked around and saw that the room was LIT! I was really happy to see that as I’ve always been lowkey scared that I would have a party but that it wouldn’t be fun.

How important is celebrating yourself to you

Fisayo: It is very important. I do feel like I celebrate myself though- that’s how I justify most of my material purchases. Lol.
