True story time: When I traveled to New York for Bridal Fashion Week in October of 2016, I had no idea what to expect. I was thrilled, nervous and unclear on what footwear would get me through the day. It was an absolute whirlwind of an experience, and remarkably very similar to what I imagine the models went through during “Go Sees” on America’s Next Top Model (“We’ve got to get to Brooklyn from the Upper West Side in 20 minutes!”)
The pinnacle of the trip was attending the Monique Lhuillier show. I was in a longgg line of bloggers and photographers that snaked around 2 New York City blocks and was worried I wouldn’t make the cut – amazingly, I was the last person let in moments before the show started. It was dazzling. Surreal. A moment I’ll never forget. A trio of violinists played hauntingly beautiful classical music while the most beautiful gowns I’d ever seen in person twirled around the room. Needless to say, I have a soft spot for the designer, so I am particularly pleased to share her Spring 2020 collection today.
From the designer:
Spring 2020 materializes a captivating fantasy in a dramatic lineup of heirloom gowns set in a lush, Italian secret garden. Signature silhouettes are embellished with decadent embroideries in luxurious fabrics in a palette of blossom, cameo and champagne. Rose Jacquard, Duchess Satin and Mosaic Lace transform classic silhouettes, creating an air of royalty, while floral print, open weave silk gazar and Magnolia Embroidered Tulle add an element of grandeur. Dramatic capes and jackets with exaggerated trains, along with high-low hems and detachable overskirts give versatility to the modern bride. Soft layers of tulle and embellished appliqués create depth and dimension. The overall effect is enchanting — a celebration of romance.
