I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for today’s feature. If I could come back as anything (I mean anything), it would be as a ballerina. Their elegance and grace is second to none and there’s nothing more romantic than a ballet. In fact, I’d come back not just as any ballerina but as the most amazing and influential ballerina of this decade- Misty Copeland. For those who don’t know, Ms. Copeland is an American ballet dancer for one of the three leading classical ballet companies in the United States. She goes down in history as the first African American Female Principal Dancer with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre. Talk about #goals!
To bring this ballerina fantasy to life, we partnered with the incredibly talented folks at Taylor and Hov Events to create our take on what a Misty Copeland wedding would look like. As fate would have it, Ms. Copeland actually tied the knot last week in what we can only dream was as romantic as it was elegant.
Shot at the West Elm in Washington, DC., our Misty Copeland Wedding Inspiration shoot captures the grace and charm of modern ballet with muted yet striking hues and a whole lot of romance. The flowers are rich and lush thanks to the talents at Edge Floral Event Designers and the setting is picture perfect (confession – every time we walk into a West Elm we daydream about moving right into the store.) The mix of textures and textiles provides a beautiful contrast to the romantic, delicate fabrics. It truly brings this artistic shoot to the next level. The five-tier marbled cake by Classic Bakery is so beautiful it looks almost too good to eat. Everything about this shoot is executed to a T – it is a true vision brought to life. As the grand finale to an already perfect shoot, our #prettyperfectpartner Mae B films captured the shoot on film and wove a beautiful tale of love found and lost. We’re truly grateful to each and every wedding pro that made this fantasy come true. Enjoy the film below
