Hey ya’ll! It’s been three weeks since our wedding and we are still totally spinning from all the love, laughter and dancing. Our wedding day was truly the best day of our lives. I couldn’t have pictured anything better. BUT since wedding photos take a bit of time to get, we will save that story for next month. For now, let’s get down to business and talk about the most amazing, relaxing week ever AKA our incredible honeymoon in St. Lucia. We stayed at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. We chose St. Lucia because of the amazing beaches, tropical landscape and honestly because it’s on every “Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations” article that I read researching spots. So where to even begin?
The Resort
You guys, this place is top notch. After a long day of travel, our first impression blew us away. Right after we went through customs we were greeted by the Sandals hospitality desk in the airport and whisked away in our own beautiful, private (air conditioned!!) car. We booked our car through Island Routes and I cannot recommend them enough. Our driver Earl made sure our honeymoon was off to an amazing start and even had a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us in the car. Once we got to the resort, we were blown away by the beauty of it. The open air lobby faces the beach and the gorgeous hills in the distance. The customer service at Sandals was honestly the best I have ever experienced. Every single person working there had a smile on their face and wanted to make sure you had the same. The grounds were absolutely immaculate. They had perfect little spots set up all over for newlyweds to have romantic moments together, from hammocks to cabanas and private gazebos. And even though the resort was almost at capacity, it literally never felt crowded. Oh, and can we talk about the food? (No, really, because you know the only thing I was more excited about besides marrying Brandon was eating everything I could get my hands on #weddingdiet) Seriously, the food at the resort was spectacular. We especially loved the restaurant on the pier, Gordon’s. There were so many delicious options, from Italian to Sushi, Indian and everything in between. Let’s just say between all the food and the wine, I don’t think I’ll be trying to squeeze back into my wedding dress this week mmkay?
Activities
We like a mix of relaxation and adventure, so we did just that. Most days we rented a cabana on the beach (SO worth it) where we read our books, took swims out in the gorgeous water and enjoyed delicious tropical drink after drink. Hey, I’d been on that wedding diet for what felt like an eternity, so, bring on the pina coladas if you know what I’m sayin. We booked two amazing couples massages at the Red Lane Spa which were so so relaxing. We felt so spoiled – every day should start with a massage, am I right?! Pigeon Island is located just outside the resort, so we hiked that one day and the views were absolutely incredible. Sandals had so many water sports included in our package as well, so we took full advantage of taking out the Hobie Cats and Kayaks almost every day. We also booked JJ’s boat tour through the resort and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. We took a speed boat ride to a volcano, did a mud bath in the sulphur springs, rinsed off in a beautiful waterfall, snorkled, had a home cooked meal in Marigot Bay and then drank one too many rum punches on our dance party boat ride back to the resort. All in a day’s work, right? 😉
Mr. and Mrs.
All of the relaxation and activities were beyond incredible, but the highlight of course was the fact that it was our HONEYMOON. We kept looking at each other throughout the day and laughing, tearing up, or just breaking out into a huge smile as it hit us over and over that we were married. What an amazing, life changing, soul filling feeling. We went to dinner every night and talked about what marriage means to both of us and shared our hopes and dreams for the lifetime ahead of us. One night we had a private candlelit dinner on the beach which was so romantic I had to keep pinching myself. All in all, this was without a doubt the best trip of our lives; our first trip as husband and wife. I am so beyond grateful for the amazing wedding and honeymoon we were so fortunate to have and so excited to see what the future holds. It’s gonna be a beautiful life 🙂
