We are so excited to introduce our newest blogger bride. Brenna Lyden is the creator of the amazing go-to fashion blog Chic Street Style. We adore Brenna’s style and are so excited that she will be sharing her bridal journey with us this year. For her first post, Brenna is sharing her love story with her fiance Zach and their beautiful engagement photos. This might be the most romantic story we’ve ever heard (warning: it may make you punch your fella 😉 )
I was in my senior year of college. In limbo between what had been my dream buying internship with Nordstrom in Seattle and awaiting May until I could move back. I had laser focus on my future and was determined not to let anything or anyone get in my way
It was October 18th. I had just wrapped up a photo shoot for the fashion magazine I was editor in chief of and one of my fashion directors begged me to go to a party with her that night to celebrate a job well done. I never really went out, I was too busy working on my blog. But she had mentioned that it was a Great Gatsby theme and a chance for me to wear feathers and pearls.
Fast forward to a few hours later and I walk into a friends apartment and there he was. Blonde hair, blue eyes and dresses up like Jay Gatsby. We spent the rest of the night laughing, dancing and flirting. He was charming, strong (an ex Marine) and understood me instantly in a way that no one else ever had. Come the end of the night, we said an unwilling goodbye and when he didn’t ask me for my number, I was bummed to say the least.
The next morning I awoke to a Facebook message from Zach. He had found me. He said that he “sees this going down three ways: we become best friends that fall for each other, we fall hopelessly in love or we are nothing, because he couldn’t stand it any other way.” The night after that he asked me to be his girlfriend, the day after that his roommate and two and a half months later on midnight on New Years Eve, his wife.
We got engaged at a Gatsby themed New Years Eve party with a ring inspired by Daisy’s. Zach says the only reason he even waited two and a half months is because that’s how long it took Diamonds by Lauren to make my dream engagement ring and find the pink diamonds.
Zach and I are getting married on August, 11th 2016 at a Garden Gastby soiree held at a 1920s mansion outside of Minneapolis, where I was born and raised. Stay tuned for our glamorous nuptials and a fairytale ending to our love story and beginning to our marriage
