Romance is in the air this holiday season, and today’s post is giving us all the feels. My dear friend from law school, Ravi, is the sweetest Groom-to-be. He reached out to us to share his proposal story with his fiancé Katie as a surprise, since they’re getting married next week [seriously, how sweet is that?] and we of course, jumped at the opportunity to celebrate their love. These two are so adorable and you’ve got to love a man who goes the extra mile to make his lady feel special. I’m so excited for these two and the new life [and year] they’re about to start together. HOW THEY MET
They met through mutual friends on the Upper East Side. Ravi played rugby with Katie’s high school friends and they all went out one night together. The girls showed up late, just as Ravi was leaving. When he saw Katie, he stopped and decided he wouldn’t leave until he got her phone number. Four hours later, he went home happy, and less than 2 months after that, they were officially a couple.
HOW HE ASKED
It all went down at the beautiful balcony of Above Allen, the rooftop bar at Sixty LES Hotel. The balcony overlooked the entire East Village and Lower East Side, where Katie and Ravi had fallen in love and spent many of their early dates together. Katie was escorted by car to the Hotel, where she met Ravi in their balcony suite. There, they relaxed together before Ravi snuck away to confirm last minute planning for the proposal.
He impatiently waited for Katie to make her entrance while the hotel set up champagne on the balcony and roped off the area for the big moment. Katie arrived to find Ravi standing on the balcony, where they reminisced about all the wonderful times they shared in the neighborhood below.
Throughout all of this, Katie remained oblivious to the photographer merely steps away. After several minutes, Ravi got down on one knee and popped the question.
Thankfully, she said yes and they created yet another amazing memory! They capped the night off with celebratory champagne and a wonderful dinner at Delmonico’s.
THE ENGAGEMENT SHOOT
The engagement shoot took place immediately after the proposal. With a gorgeous, backdrop, mood, and views, it was the perfect time to capture some photographs, beautifully done by Ash Fox Photography.
