“For whom my soul loves”
Like most topics, I write too much, include every single detail, and make every blog super long. I apologize for that but this one, well probably two, deserve every single word I’m going to write, so grab a beverage and hunker down as it’s going to be a long read.
To start, I got married. Yes, IT HAPPENED!!!! Everyone always says it’s going to be the most amazing day of your life, and for us, it truly was! I’ll start on June 29th as that was the first day Troy and I stepped foot into the Huracan Café where we would be married the very next day. I’d go into great detail regarding drinks and food, but I know that’s not the fun stuff to read about so here’s the breakdown: everything was amazing. Literally, AMAZING!
Now to the good stuff! Décor! Throughout my planning, I scoured Pinterest, as every bride does, looking for things that moved me and things I felt like I HAD to have. I would then go back a few weeks later, see if they were still “must haves” and delete those that weren’t. After several weeks of this, a themed emerged that I found super ironic. Everything I was picking was garden or al fresco related, and if you remember, Troy proposed to me in his parent’s garden and there’s a little tie to why I love gardens so much. Anyways, as I’ve planned, I’ve gotten some strange looks and responses when I tell people our theme is Garden on the Beach, and have even has some laughs happen. Thankfully, my wedding coordinators are magicians and are totally in love with ideas that are outside of the box. Mayte and I have been emailing since October when I chose the venue and our first, and only, Skype meeting was the week before the wedding. This left me a little uneasy, but I had done my research on Mayte and Nati and knew they were the absolute best and no matter what, they would make it magical.
Anyways, Troy hadn’t seen any of my idea sheets due to his lack of interest in planning any part of the wedding, so I was slightly nervous about him seeing my crazy ideas for the first time the day of the wedding. We discussed each idea, how it would be incorporated, and how they would slightly tweak it to make it special to us. They literally built a wedding specific to us! Who does that?! We discussed everything from signs, to lighting, flowers, and linens, and everything they had prepared was exactly what I had dreamt of. At one point in the meeting, I glanced over at Troy and he actually looked excited about what we were discussing, that’s when I knew it was perfect. Well, that and when Troy and I were leaving the meeting and he said, “Man, I’m so glad we chose to get married here. The restaurant has the rustic feel that we love but still has a beach feel to it. It’s going to be great!”
My nerves were finally calm.
So I now present to you, OUR WEDDING!!!!!! Well, the pictures I have so far. All Images are by Asia Pimentel Photography
My wedding day began with breakfast with my bridesmaids and a short van ride to Huracan Café where we found people everywhere working like crazy. We were sweetly welcomed by Mayte and Nati who exclaimed they were like “little girls” and so excited about the wedding. We put our things in the bridal suite and were introduced to our wonderful hair and makeup artist for the day, Anna Nuet. Anna has to be one of the most beautiful women I have seen and she has the most amazing energy around her, which made me instantly want to be her friend. So as Anna began working on the bridesmaids as we watched each and every piece of the wedding being created in front of our eyes.
Later in the day, Troy and the groomsmen began arriving and in no time, I was putting on my dress and it was time for our “First Look.” I was filled with extreme emotions as I saw him standing at the end of the aisle and all I could think of was, “I am the luckiest woman in the world. I get to marry that man.” Well, I was thinking that and “Don’t trip. Try to look graceful. Damn, it is hot!” I safely made it down the aisle, turned him around, and in true Troy fashion, he says, “Well, ya look good.” He’s so good with words. From there, we took some pictures, and then I went back into the bridal suite while the guests arrived and were seated.
Who wouldn’t want to walk down the aisle to this?
First Look
Cue music, gather bridal party, everyone smile, attempt to stop crying, and with my Dad by my side, and my step-Dad waiting halfway down the aisle, the wedding had begun. Our officiant, Shannon, was perfect. She had us laughing, me crying, and Troy whispering silly things to me throughout the ceremony. I don’t remember much from the ceremony other than looking at Troy and attempting to not mess up my vows, but I definitely remember “you may now kiss your bride” and the cheer that came after it! So that was that. We hugged everyone through the receiving line and my heart felt nothing but fullness and pure joy to see all of our family and friends there celebrating with us.
And then….we partied, but first, pictures!!!
Tune in next time to read about our gorgeous dinner and CRAZY reception!!! Plus, I can’t wait to show you more pictures!
XO, Audrey
