Introduce your brand:
I’m Kristen Curette – a 27yr old wedding & lifestyle photographer located in the good ole’ state of Texas. My approach to photography has been described at vivid, photojournalistic and creative. I strive to create images with character, the ones that make you feel something when you look at them. I want to create a story, your story. I celebrate the risk-takers, the dreamers, the wild ones & those that believe in the value of story telling.
Describe your photography packages?
Depending on the package you choose, the amount of shooting time will vary. Each package comes with a personal consultation, a beautiful online gallery where you can easily download the photos to your computer and share them with family and friends, as well as a flash drive with all the finished photos sent to your home. You can order prints through your gallery or anywhere else your heart desires!
Do you travel ( (1)Within US (2) International)
Heck yea I do! I have my passport & I’m ready for any roadtrip or plane ride!
What inspired you to go into photography?
By the age of 10 I realized that I was heading down a creative path. At that age most children paste magazine clippings ALL OVER the walls of their room. Sure some kids might’ve had boy band pictures or their favorite athlete, but I had literally covered my whole entire room with photos. You couldn’t see the walls. I heard the phrase “clean that room” more times than I’d care to share, but deep down I knew one day I would take photos like the ones plastered on my walls. Let’s just say I was getting a head start on creatively motivating myself.
What is your favorite thing about wedding photography?
There’s really nothing like creating honest, heartfelt images for couples who are madly in love. I’m obsessed with capturing those real moments; creating physical memories– beautiful evidence of our lives & love for one another. It’s truly a blessing to witness & I’m so honored when people invite me to be a part of their lives & document their story.
Name some of your favorite places you have shot.
The Upper Northwest is definitely one of my favorite places. Something about being in nature & in the mountains makes you feel so at peace. I also photographed in Kingston, Jamaica last summer on a mission trip & I left a piece of my heart there.
Name some of your favorite vendors you’ve worked with?
Jennifer Laura Designs is a wedding planner / florist and is absolutely fabulous. Kim Clark Artistry is wonderful at make up and so is Erica with Hey Lovely Makeup. Maria with Maxit Flower Design does stunning floral work.
Any advice for brides on the wedding planning process?
Have fun. Enjoy the process & don’t let it overwhelm you. Plan a day that reflects you as couple & the love you have for one another. It’s a glorious & happy occasion! Dance, cry, laugh, stay true to who you are! And remember, as long as you’re married at the end of the day, that’s all that truly matters!
When you’re not photographing weddings, what do you love to do?
My boyfriend & I are always looking for the next adventure. Roadtrips, music, tasty eats; it’s truly about the little things in life. And oh boy do we love to eat. I only wish my metabolism was half as fast as his.
If you could travel to any destination right now, where would it be?
If I had to pick one destination from my HUGE dream travel list, I’d probably say New Zealand. Ever since I watched the first “Lord of the Rings” I’ve been wanting to see hobbit homes in real life. (I know I know I’m such a nerd.) Plus come on…those mountains, that crystal blue water, just looking at images online take my breathe away.
What is your favorite Guilty pleasure?
I probably have the biggest sweet tooth known to man & dentists everywhere. Chocolate is definitely my kryptonite, oh yea & double stuffed Oreos!!
Tell us Something that recently inspired you?
Film & music are two things that are constantly inspiring me creatively. I’d love to go back to school and study film. Every component that goes into making a movie fascinates me, from the wardrobe design, set design to the film score. Especially the film score. My all time favorite composer is Hanz Zimmer and his recent work on the movie Interstellar is once again genius. The way he creates sound & connects a real emotional feeling to the music is seriously out of this world. Every layer of music has it’s own meaning & he perfectly fuses all of the components together to create a brilliant masterpiece.
