Battlefield Bed and Breakfast Wedding by Brooke Courtney Photography

And the rustic perfection keeps on coming. Mandy and Anthony said I do at the Battlefield Bed and Breakfast in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. From the bride’s beautiful flower crown to the awesome intimate details-we can’t seem to get enough! We’ll let the bride do the sharing.
From the Bride:
Inspiration for the day: Our wedding theme was just that we wanted to have FUN! So everything else needed to be laid-back so that we didn’t get too caught up in things. We didn’t want to get stressed out, and we wanted to ensure that our guests had an amazing time! Everything sort of came out of that intention.
Special Touches and Traditions: Anthony is from Peru, so it was important that we incorporated both our cultures. I made some origami llamas and spray painted them gold to represent Peru, and we served ice cream in Baltimore Oriole mini helmets as a nod to my roots. For the food, the cocktail hour featured American-themed food — popcorn, hot dogs and cotton candy and then the entree was Peruvian chicken and traditional Peruvian sides. Also, our very dear family friend performed our wedding ceremony, and she did an amazing job of honoring our loved ones who were unable to share our special day.
How He Asked: Anthony was really nervous about proposing. He planned a really nice dinner at one of our favorite restaurants and brought the ring with him, but chickened out! That night, there was a terrible storm — people in the DC area would remember it — “El Derecho 2012.” When we got home, we had no power and it felt like a sauna in our apartment! When I woke up the next morning, I was really feeling the effects of the wine we drank the night before. Anthony turned to me and said “I have a surprise for you,” and I said “Is it a Sausage McMuffin?” Of course it was the ring!
Our wedding and reception was at a Bed and Breakfast, and we really liked the idea of having family and friends make a weekend of our wedding. We are so glad we did, because the actual day of the wedding was a whirlwind, so it was nice to get to spend quality time with those who were around for the weekend. We knew we wanted to have the reception in a barn, because we felt like it was a quaint setting that suited us well.
Favorite Memories of the Day: I just remember being super happy!!! There’s so much anticipation for your wedding day, and when you are able to let go and just enjoy being with your new husband, celebrating how much you love each other surrounded by family and friends, it’s the most amazing and wonderful feeling!
