#KO2012 Detail- Shoes: Carried Away!

Valentino
Let me just say right off, I bought like 10 wedding shoes before the big day- judge me. My first dabble in the wedding shoe “business” was with these Valentino bow d’orsays.

I figured the bronze would go with the hand painted flowers in the skirt of my baby (dress). It was definitely too early to make that purchase as I ended up wearing them at my traditional wedding.

Kate Spade
Next up, my Kate Spade Charm Silver Heels. These shoes have always been one of my faves. I ended up wearing them for our Rehearsal Dinner. It was way too much sparkle for the dress.
I checked out these Jimmy Choo Mary Janes and ALMOST went for them but as usual .. the wide feet man .. ugh my feet started hurting before I left the store.
Giuseppe Zanotti
These Giuseppe Zanotti heels were my first choice for wedding shoes but they were too expensive for me at the time. I found them on sale on The Outnet ( i believe they are still there .. run) and ordered without thought. Its unfortunate that they’re for ladies with narrower lady-like feet not my wide stumps. Had to return asap (thank God for Outnet’s forgiving return policy)
Now this fairy tale gets sweeter. As I was walking to the jeweler to pick up my wedding bling (post of its own, coming soon), I passed by the Manolo Blahnik store- a little almost-hole-in-the-concrete-construction-jungle you could miss if you blinked ( I guess people just know its there) and the tiny ‘angel’ whispered in my ear- ENTER! haha okay really I walked in and found the shoe of my dreams. I have always loved Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding shoes (Sex and The City – The Movie) but pushed it out of my head because of the height ( If you remember heel-height was a big issue for me in shoe-selection). It’s always easier to say no via the internet but not when you’re staring greatness in the face. A few cajoles from the salespeople later, I had my beauties in hand. The thing was, the height was still an issue but you know me and my DIY ways haha. I trucked my heels down to the wonderful craftsmen at Leather Spa NY to see if they could shave down an inch of the heel. Turns out- it’s a thing!! and I am not just a nut-job. They were able to take a quarter-inch off which is a lot actually and my perfect shoes were just that- perfect! I present to you my very own Manolo Blahnik Hangisi (formerly in 90mm now 83mm)
The inner pads were a MUST because I took a size up. Reason being: You’re on your feet a LOT and your feet tend to swell with too much activity. #tip
This picture does not do my babies justice .. they were gorgeous and sparkled in the light. I am also glad I went with them as my “something blue” and as a surprise burst of color with my traditional look. I think the coolest part is I can get a lot of wear from the shoes post-wedding yay.
Carrie would be very proud!
Happy Friday!
